5. Check all boards for loose knots, nails, and other foreign objects.
6. Feed boards into the planer so that it cuts across the grain.
7. Force the boards through the planer.
8. Be careful not to pinch fingers between the table and the board.
9. Do not plane a board shorter than the distance between the rollers.
10. Depth of cut should be 1/16th of an inch pass.
11. To remove a board that is stuck, lower the table with the planer still running.
12. Never look directly into the throat of the planer while it is running.
13. Reach into the planer while it is running.
14. Do not stand directly behind the board in case of kickback.
15. Wait for the planer blades to come to a complete stop before cleaning the machine.
